Comedian Josie Long has launched a charity, the Arts Emergency Service, which aims to support students from underprivileged backgrounds who wish to study arts degrees.

Long is campaigning against higher tuition fees through her stand-up shows, and is supporting students in Hackney through mentoring.  She also runs a monthly lottery whereby students can win money towards paying off their debts.
