Sector Skills Councils

Sector Skills Councils (SSCs) are state-sponsored, employer-driven independent organisations that cover specific economic sectors in the UK.

Their four key goals are:
• to reduce skills gaps and shortages
• to improve productivity, business and public service performance
• to increase information about opportunities and to boost the skills and productivity of everyone in the sector's workforce
• improve learning supply including apprenticeships, higher education and National Occupational Standards (NOS)

The Sector Skills Councils provide employers with a discussion and meeting place to explain the skills and productivity needs that are relevant to their industries. By coming together as these Councils, employers have:
• greater dialogue with government and devolved administration departments across the UK
• greater impact on policies affecting skills and productivity
• increased influence with education and training partners
• substantial public investment

The Sector Skills Councils cover approximately 90% of the UK workforce representing the skills and training interests of small to large business. The Sector Skills Council that represent aspects of the creative industries are:CCAD textiles Dip
