Arts University College at Bournemouth

Principal: Professor Stuart Bartholomew

The Arts University College at Bournemouth is one of only ten specialist higher education institutions in the UK devoted solely to the study of the arts. The University College has been offering specialist education for over a century and enjoys a strong reputation both nationally and internationally for providing the creative industries with practitioners of the future. All 2,500+ students are based within one attractive campus which is a creative community where both staff and students share a commitment to the disciplines of art, design, media and performance.

The University College recently underwent a rebrand following the awarding of Taught Degree Awarding Powers at the end of 2008 and it remains committed to ensuring that its courses continue to offer a learning experience of the highest quality and real relevance.

It remains one of the most successful and most popular higher education specialists, committed to providing the highest quality, industry-relevant creative degrees. The University College now offers over 20 degrees in art, design, media and performance, as well as a range of short courses, a unique postgraduate programme, and bespoke services to business.

Situated between Bournemouth and Poole in Dorset, facilities at the University College are second to none and include purpose-built studios and extensive modern workshops; one of the largest, specialist art libraries outside London with over 45,000 books; a contemporary gallery which is a major resource for contemporary visual art, with its own innovative text+work programme; and the Museum of Design in Plastics which provides a dynamic study and research resource for students, holding more than 8,000 artefacts.

The University College is an accredited Skillset Screen & Media Academy which is a recognised Centre of Excellence in film training and education, with the Academy network being endorsed by the UK film and media industry as providing the best education and skills development for the future workforce at further, higher and postgraduate levels.
