Art and Design Meets Business and Industry: Developing a mixed economy in the specialist institution
The current pressures on public spending and declining future HEFCE funding have made the realisation of a mixed economy even more of an imperative for specialist arts and design colleges and universities. This talk will discuss some of the approaches adopted by the Royal College of Art that are allowing it to maintain standards in teaching and research, continue providing a high-quality student experience, and work ‘beyond the institution’ to contribute good design and visual culture to business, the community and the wider economy.
