Recruitment at FE and HE level is problematic across a number of subjects, potentially causing the permanent loss of traditional skills within specific creative industries. Subjects in this position are likely to include ceramics, metals, glass, conservation, book-binding and printing, amongst others.

The Minority Specialist subject project has looked at wide ranging issues effecting take up of these endangered subjects.

The project was led by the University of Cumbria Faculty of Arts (formerly Cumbria Institute of the Arts) and Plymouth College of Art.
