NALN was set up to support students progressing to Higher Education, and it is their stories that demonstrate the value of our work. As well as the students featured below, student speakers have been and will continue to be a regular part of future conferences as a powerful reminder of the importance of equal access to higher education.
Below are case studies of some of the students we have worked with.
Andy came to Central Saint Martins through its progression agreement, and talks about the challenge of academic language at University.
Frances came to Hereford College of Arts from a traveller community and talks about learning to read and write and her diagnosis with dyslexia.
Katiana came to Central Saint Martins through a NALN Progression Agreement, and now works as a student ambassador.
Maria progressed to Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, after leaving home at 16 to be more independent.
Nadine Angela is an Artist Blacksmith and recently graduated from Hereford College of Arts with an honours degree in Artist Blacksmithing. Hereford offers the only artist blacksmithing course in the country.
