Creative Apprenticeships

The National Arts Learning Network worked with South East London Lifelong Learning Network (SELLLN) to develop progression pathways to higher education for apprentices completing the level 3 Apprenticeships in the London area. Creative and Cultural Skills, the Sector Skills Council for Crafts, Cultural Heritage, Design, Literature, Music, Performing, and Visual Arts developed 6 apprenticeships that are delivered at level 2 and level 3. Recruitment for the apprenticeships started in 2008.

This work aims to set up progression pathways from these apprenticeships and give apprentices who are interested in progressing to level 4 provison the skills they need to study successfully at this level.

Step up to HE module

SELLLN funded Goldsmiths, University of London to develop the Step up to HE module which aims to develop academic skills for students wishing to progress to HE in the context of personal and professional development in the creative industries. The project at Goldsmiths also explored appropriate models of delivery based on funding and student take up and location. This project supported the development of an accredited bridging module and has included the development of an accompanying teaching pack.
