The Mentoring strand of the Student Support project was a joint project between Plymouth College of Art and the Arts University College at Bournemouth (formerly The Arts Institute at Bournemouth). It aimed to investigate the use of both e-mentoring and face-to-face mentoring to facilitate progression into and through HE for those students from non-traditional backgrounds

Subject:
The use of mentoring in retention and progression to Higher Education
Aims:
• To investigate ways in which mentoring can facilitate progression to HE study for ‘widening participation’ students
• To pilot two different approaches to mentoring
• To communicate with project partners to identify areas of good practice and contribute to shared understanding regarding the use of student mentoring
• To produce a joint paper describing the approaches adopted and the outcomes, highlighting areas of good practice and learning
• To disseminate findings between partners and the wider NALN community
